Change America

I have lived long enough to know that the greed of man has great influence in all walks of life and all nations. It is easy to point out the faults of any country. At least half the US wants a free lunch with no concept, or care, to what the end result will be to us and our future. They want entitlement when there should be none. We keep voting in, and supporting those, that do not have our best interest at all. Why? It has become harder and harder for me to have the faith in the American public that I used to. We need to look in the mirror instead of ranting and raving of how terrible our country and its leaders are. Let’s take it back. Our forefathers gave us the power to do just that.

Teamsters Hoffa Threatens Tea Party [Video]

Amazing what can be said without any media reaction to speak of. The “hate” speech from the left is out of control. Obviously a nerve has been hit.

Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa had some profane, combative words for Republicans while warming up the crowd for President Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Monday.

“We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war, they got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We’re going to win that war,” Jimmy Hoffa said to a heavily union crowd.

“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” Hoffa added.

9/11 Trials and Faith

The calamity of September 11th, 2001 has cast a long shadow. Ten years later, many of us are still haunted by its terrible tragedy of lost lives and broken hearts. It is an episode of anguish that has become a defining moment in the history of the American nation and the world. This week, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, along with Tom Brokaw, will pay its own homage to the unforgettable events of September 11, 2001.

There was, as many have noted, a remarkable surge of faith following the tragedy. People across the United States rediscovered the need for God and turned to Him for solace and understanding. Comfortable times were shattered. We felt the great unsteadiness of life and reached for the great steadiness of our Father in Heaven. And, as ever, we found it. Americans of all faiths came together in a remarkable way.

TSA Agent and Intrusive Search ‘Rape’

The article below is incredible. Our rights need to be protected. But protection at what cost? These policies need to be reviewed and changed immediately. Why this employee felt, and lawyer sanctioned, she could sue for defamation is crazy. People need to be named and responsible for their actions, company approved or not.

WARNING: The topic and content of this article could be considered offensive.

Amy Alkon is an advice columnist and blogger who is just one of many people who has had a horrifying and traumatizing experience going through airport security lately. After being pulled aside for an “enhanced” search, she found the process to be so invasive and so in violation of her own rights that she was left sobbing. She wrote about the experience on her blog, noting that she didn’t think the search was just “invasive” in the emotional sense, but flat out physically invasive:

Nearing the end of this violation, I sobbed even louder as the woman, FOUR TIMES, stuck the side of her gloved hand INTO my vagina, through my pants. Between my labia. She really got up there. Four times. Back right and left, and front right and left. In my vagina. Between my labia. I was shocked — utterly unprepared for how she got the side of her hand up there. It was government-sanctioned sexual assault.

Upon leaving, still sobbing, I yelled to the woman, “YOU RAPED ME.” And I took her name to see if I could file sexual assault charges on my return. This woman, and all of those who support this system deserve no less than this sort of unpleasant experience, and from all of us.

After investigating whether or not she could file sexual assault charges, and being told that this was probably a non-starter, she instead wrote about the experience, and named the TSA agent who she dealt with: Thedala Magee. Alkon felt that if people can’t stop these kinds of searches, they should at least be able to name the TSA agents who are doing them.

Magee responded by lawyering up and threatening Alkon with defamation and asking for $500,000 and the removal of the blog post.

Real Risks Associated with Abortion: Unbiased Analysis

The study showed that those who undergo abortion face nearly double the risk of mental health difficulties compared with others and that one in ten of all mental health problems was a result of an abortion.

The findings come as Tory MP Nadine Dorries, backed by Labour’s Frank Field, has put down an amendment to a Health Bill which requires women seeking abortion to see an independent counsellor first.

Currently organisations which provide abortions offer counselling, but critics say the advice given can often be biased.

The latest research was carried out by American academic Priscilla Coleman and published in the British Journal of Psychiatry.

It adds to previous findings made public by the journal three years ago which first questioned the assumption of abortion campaigners that terminating a pregnancy reduces rather than increases the health risks to women.

Professor Coleman’s study was based on an analysis of 22 separate projects which analysed the experiences of a total of 877,000 women, of whom 163,831 had had an abortion.

Debt Deal Doublespeak

Crisis averted… Oh really? The deal calls for $2.1 billion of spending cuts. Great right? But that is Washington doublespeak. Spending will be cut from current services baseline spending growth. Actual spending will expand generously over the 10-year horizon. Indeed, there will be about $44 trillion of spending over these next 10 years.

The national debt will swell another 5+ trillion over the next 10 years (if things go well). There will only be about $60B of spending reductions over FY2011 and 2012. On top of that… No current Congress can restrain the activities and spending of future Congresses.

Folks, we are being played for suckers (again).

Is Green Working?

For the month of July, only 125 Chevy Volts were sold, and this is with several thousand dollars of tax subsidies. To date, 2,700 have been sold.

And speaking of green, Evergreen Solar filed a petition for relief under a Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy code. After getting about $58M in subsidies for producing solar panels in Massachusetts, the company closed its manufacturing plant in Devens, laying off 800 workers, and moved to Wuhan China, to lower costs. But even there, the competition was too tough. Massachusetts was one of the largest creditors in the bankruptcy filing, being owed $1.5M.

Finally, Costco removed special electric vehicle charging stations from its parking lot, saying “Nobody ever uses them.”

Beyond Color Racism

“If you are a white person in this country, you are, by default, a racist.”

What does this statement accomplish? It’s judgmental in nature with no possible positive outcome. It builds a division that cannot be overcome. Is that the goal?

My guess is that this argument is based on that I am not black and thus could never understand. That would be right. I grew up in a typical, middle class, white collar neighborhood and family. Admittedly, I never dealt with racial slurs and treatment. I will never truly understand what that feels like. On the other hand, I could never empathize with those that are raped or innocent children that are abused. Am I a racist to them as well?

Maybe I don’t understand what being a racist means? I know I don’t believe in or promote race-based prejudice, violence, discrimination, or oppression. Isn’t that the basic definition of racism? The notion that my being white negates my actions and beliefs seems pretty thin.

Intellectually, spiritually, I can only sympathize with other’s life predicaments I have not experienced. No one really can do more. I am not a racist.
